We often hear people express their desire to “Buy American” items only. Perhaps you have advocated for American goods only. From our readings this unit, we learned that society as a whole benefits from FREE TRADE.
Look at the tag on your clothing items (your shirt, shoes, pants, dress, hat etc). Where were these items made? Any “Made in America” items?
What car do you drive? Was it made in America? (Note that many foreign vehicles are manufactured in varying degrees in the U.S. while many automobiles produced by the “Big Three” U.S. auto corporations are manufactured outside the U.S. What makes an automobile an American car?
