About Your Course:
Course Description: The purpose of this course it to provide students with an opportunity to discuss and evaluate Women’s experiences and connection to food and culture in their everyday lives throughout history and globally. Particular emphasis will be placed on Indigenous Women’s experiences within work, family, community, across the region, nationally, and globally. We will explore the significance of foods within various cultures, origins of the uses of ingredients used in the process, the deeper meanings of the purpose, functionality, use of and traditional meanings including spiritually. The course will involve use of a text, videos, and guest speakers as forms of delivery. Sharing circles to explore one another’s food cultures within the class will be utilized.
