 Define “transnational motherhood” and explain how transnational mothers transform traditional gender meanings of motherhood.

Scholars of gender and globalization have long argued that immigrant women’s work is “invisible” in the new global economy.

Define “emotional labor,” and compare and contrast the emotional labor required of immigrant women domestic workers and nail technicians in the US service economy. Develop an argument that explains how emotional labor contributes to the “invisibility” of women’s work in the new global economy.
