Quantitative research studies primarily involve the collection, analysis, and interpretation of numeric data, with goals that include: to describe, to explain, and to predict phenomena. One quantitative research design is a time series design. Assignment 2.1 focuses on principles and concepts relating to time series research. Steps to begin this assignment are listed in the attached template and are as follows:
1. Create a reflection report explaining the principles of time series (e.g., purpose, phases).
2. Next, compare and contrast two models (e.g., ABA, multiple-baseline) keeping in mind the following areas:
Overview of the model
Considerations or special procedures of the model
Advantages and disadvantages of the model
3. Discuss unique characteristics of time series design as opposed to experimental designs and predictive designs.
4. Provide an example of a potential research study using a time-series design from which the results might inform your counseling practices.
