Teachers insturctions : For this introductory assignment, please write about a time when you had to be convincing. Much of this course will discuss aspects of rhetoric, argument, and persuasive communication, so this personal insight connects to our larger subject area.
For the writing itself, compose a 300-500 word piece that discusses a moment when you had to prove your case in some way. Perhaps it was interviewing for a job; maybe it was lobbying your parent for something you wanted; maybe it was stating your perspective on a difficult situation; or an attempt, through communication, to mediate or correct some wrong. What strategies did your use? How did you establish your credibility? What was important to know about your listener/audience? What was the result of your efforts? Did you learn anything through this experience?
