This will focus on how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is used to decrease problems in the healthcare industry. Specifically, AI can enhance and streamline hospital operations from diagnosis to treatment and from surgical procedures to therapy. Most importantly, AI may reduce risks of errors that have been attributed to problems with accurate and timely diagnoses. This aims to explore these benefits of AI as well as associated risks in terms of security issues and HIPPA compliance.
The recent report by world health organization has indicated that the global healthcare is short of about 7 million medical practitioners. The shortage is huge among the developing countries with low fiscal budget which may not sustain its wage bill. Several scholars have come up with suggestions on how this can be solved, and the suggestion has been the use of artificial intelligence in the healthcare industry. The major objective of using this artificial intelligence programs is to enhance quality of life care and reduce medical errors that are synonymous with humans. The use of artificial intelligence will enhance service delivery in the healthcare through thorough analysis of the connection between the techniques that the healthcare employ to prevent, treat and diagnose patients and the treatment outcome something that is central to patients satisfaction and the quality of care provide (Alexander Gorban, Novgorod, angorban, & Ivan Tyukin, n.d.). There several advantages that come with the use of artificial intelligence in the healthcare apart from the role it will play to bridge the human resource shortage, it will also significantly reduce medical errors and other security risks associated with the use of technology in the healthcare. Nevertheless, the major problem that will impact the use and implementation of the artificial intelligence program is lack of knowledge on the use and benefits of the technology. It is based on this that this literature review was done to determine the available literature on the topic and how its use will or rather comply with the available laws that regulate the healthcare industry. understanding the benefits of the technology to the healthcare industry and how it can be used at the same time adhering to the principles and the requirements of the law is important to the medical practitioners as it will not only enhance efficiency but also will be done as par the law (Peek et al., 2015).
