Personal experience essay, 4-5 pages in length about a PERSONAL EXPERIENCE that challenged your thinking and changed your world view significantly. Needs to reference an essay we’ve read in class, identify the author and the essay’s title, present at least three points of support for the thesis, and include at lease two whole or partial quotations from the essay, and a works cited page. Aim to effectively blend summary, description, narration, and analysis, and engage the audience with examples and details. Write introduction, at least three body paragraphs, and a conclusion (thesis should appear no later than the beginning of paragraph 3). Should be expository, not argumentative. Supplement the author’s findings rather than challenge them. Useful questions: ~What societal pressures, cultural expectations, or other forces (external or internal) influenced the actions you took and decisions you made? ~During the experience, what messages did you receive from peers and from society, and how did you interpret these messages? What ideas explain or justify the course of action you took? ~How might you have acted differently, given all that you know now? ~What do you want your audience to learn from the event or events you describe?
