Your post must be written in your own words. Remember to name your sources. If you summarize something from the textbook, you can say, “according to our textbook.” However, if you use quotes from the textbook or any other source, be sure to put them in quotation marks, state where they are from, and include the page number.
Your initial post (2 paragraphs) is due sunday

For this assignment, you need to create a timeline that tracks important information about the hominin lineage beginning 6 million years ago (mya). (Draw a line and label one end 6 bya and the other end 0 or present and then mark each item on it; more details are below). Your timeline should include the following items, which are all discussed in your textbook:
- early australopiths
- late australopiths
- Australopithicus afarensis
- “Ardi” (fossil)
- Laetoli footprints
- “Lucy” (fossil)
- Oldowan Tradition
- Homo habilis
- “Turkana Boy” (fossil)
- Homo erectus
- archaic Homo sapiens
- modern Homo Sapiens
For each item, you should indicate the time range in which they existed and include some basic information about what is known about them. For example, for the late australopithsyou might write:
- major changes in dentition and food sources – eating more tough vegetables
- slightly bigger average cranial capacity
- used simple tools
- by 1.5mya evidence they controlled fire
- fossils found on African continent
Depending on the item, you might have more or less information to include.
For your timeline, you may write it on a piece of paper and add to it day by day as you read the assigned chapter and then scan or take a picture of it to upload to the assignment link. You may need to tape Your timeline does not have to be perfect or without crossouts. The point is to create a tool that shows you how the hominin lineage is spread out over time and which you can refer back to as a reference as needed. You may choose to create it using a computer program as well.
