Each student is required to complete a history essay or essay (50 points). Imagine that you’re a student at VPI in the spring of 1970. Choose one of the following four positions: radical protester, moderate antiwar activist, someone who chose not to get involved, and Vietnam War supporter. Now write an imaginary letter to the editor of the student newspaper, The Collegiate Times, explaining your stand vis-à-vis the campus unrest, why you’ve taken that stand, and why you believe your position is superior to those held by the other three groups of students. Your letter should demonstrate an ability to synthesize and understand ideas from a close reading of the relevant evidence, your ability to do so in a clearly way and with supportive evidence from the readings, and your essay should have the right format: introduction, main body, and conclusion without many grammatical and spelling errors. The essay must be over 2000 words long with no grammatical or spelling mistakes.Check online on how to write a good essay, though this assignment requires a letter format. You should save your paper as a MS Word document before you submit it via Turnitin. The Turnitin allows me to trace your source and originality. So, do not plagiarize. Plagiarism is a serious academic offense and you will be penalized accordingly.
