Chapter 12 Order Instructions
- Paper should be typed in Microsoft Word
- Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt. font
- Double-spaced or single spaced, same amount of information needs to be applied regardless of spacing.
- Paper should be in APA format
- Paper should be at least 3 pages of notes
- Paper should have 4 parts within it, including:
- Part 1: 2 full paragraphs of at least 5 sentences (this should be basically a summary of all of the main points in your own words, and if needed cite sources in APA format)
- This should thoroughly explain the main idea of the chapter. This answer will typically include – “This chapter is about…, and goes over ideas related to …”
- Part 2: This section should have the heading, “Part 2: Questions”, centered above it. This should be a question about topics you found interesting or confusing. (Find at least one topic in the chapter to write about.)
- Part 3: Essay Questions: This section should be in a numbered question & answer format, with the heading “Essay Questions” centered above it. The essay questions to be answered in paper, are included below. These essay questions should have lengthy answers and fully explain what each question is asking. The question being answered should be in number format, with the answer being indented below the question, in paragraph form.
- Part 1: 2 full paragraphs of at least 5 sentences (this should be basically a summary of all of the main points in your own words, and if needed cite sources in APA format)
- Paper should have 4 parts within it, including:
- Pick a problem you have had to deal with, and analyze the process of solving it into sub-goals, as is done in means-end analysis.
- Have you ever experienced a situation in which you were trying to solve a problem but stopped working on it because you couldn’t come up with the answer? Then, after a while, when you returned to the problem, you got the answer right away? What do you think might be behind this process?
- On August 14, 2003, a power failure caused millions of people in the northeastern and mid-western United States and eastern Canada to lose their electricity. A few days later, after most people had their electricity restored, experts still did not know why the power failure had occurred and said it would take weeks to determine the cause. Imagine that you are a member of a special commission that has the task of solving this problem, or some other major problem. How could the processes described in this chapter be applied to finding a solution? What would the shortcomings of these processes be for solving this kind of problem?
- Part 4: Think of two situations:
- For the first case, think of a problem you’ve faced where your expertise helped you solve the issue. Maybe it was a problem you’ve had before, or it’s a problem in your field of study. Describe the problem and how you used your expertise to solve it.
- This portion of the paper should be at least two full paragraphs long, consisting of at least 5 sentences.
- For the second case, think of a problem where your expertise got in the way of finding a solution, or you ignored what you’ve been taught to solve the issue. Describe the problem and how you overcame your tendency in order to solve it.
- The second case should also be at least two full paragraphs long, consisting of at least 5 sentences each.

- Cite from the textbook, and DO NOT USE ANY OTHER OUTSIDE SOURCES other than what is provided and attached in this order.
