- Assess and respond to the persuasiveness of Deresiewcz’s writing.Identify the author’s purpose, target audience; set out the strengths and weakness of his argumentation; express your opinion on its overall success/failure.
- Write a thesis-driven critical essay addressing the issues raised by the prompt
- Minimum 4 full pages, Maximum 6 pages. MLA Format
- Make sure you analyze the text’s core concepts (i.e. solitude, loneliness, idleness, boredom) and react to them critically in order to form convincing arguments. Also keep in mind that analyzing the author’s voice, written style, figures of speech & rhetorical devices, is often vital to a successful critique
- Have multiple supporting elements to defend your arguments
- Include at least two legitimate outside sources (textual references to academic publications on the topic & Works Cited page)
