Generation Z Written and Oral Report Writing using a Cohort
Written Report
Emphasis should be on practical, well-thought out analysis, using the concepts and tools you have learned in the course in addition to your own creative ideas. Your document should be well-organized, with relevant sub-headings. The first element to include in your document is a ‘Table of Contents’. Following the Table of Contents should be a brief ‘Executive Summary’. This is summary of the main observations and conclusions of your project. The executive summary helps top management to quickly learn about your paper’s most important points.
To be included in your written paper and oral presentation:
- Information from the textbook regarding your assigned cohort. In addition, you should conduct supplemental internet research. Supplemental research is necessary for all the cohorts, but particularly Generation Z, since it is relatively so recent.
- Information summarizing interviews with 3-4 individuals that fall within your assigned cohort. Your subjects can be family members, friends or neighbors.
- What are some of the shaping events or life experiences which they share with others in their generation, making them a distinct segment and different from the other cohorts?
- What opinions or feelings do they have about the past (past events, past history, etc.)? How about the future?
- What are a few of their favorite brands? How do they shop for their favorite brands?
- Identify differences between the cohort that you are assigned and the cohort that is immediately older and the one that is immediately younger than your assigned cohort.
- What is interesting about your assigned cohort?
- What are some of the positive qualities of your assigned cohort? What are some of their contributions to their families and to the society in which they live?
- What are some of the negative qualities of your assigned cohort?
- Does your assigned cohort have any “fatal flaws” that can spell trouble, either now or in the future?
- What are some examples of products that marketers may wish to target to your assigned cohort?
Evaluation of your project will consider three elements:
- The presentation and writing quality of your written document
- The depth and thoroughness of the written content
- The quality of your oral business presentation
