Plato wants to divide the world into two aspects (dualism) Real is that which does not change and is permanent. This is the world of the Eidos or Ideas for Plato. And the world of physical objects and humans is that of change and therefore is not real? Do you agree with Plato? Why or why not?

- Plato’s Allegory of the cave is a story about the human condition. Why do you think Plato selected a cave as his setting and why does he describe the individuals in the cave as prisoners? Who are they and how did they get there?
- Plato indicates in the allegory that one of the prisoners breaks free and exits the cave? Why and how does this happen? Why does he/she then have to return to the cave to share with others?
