You can imagine a scenario where you are a new employee. You are being introduced to your primary job task. There is a lot of information to process about the task, including understanding what technology is used to complete the job, how it is used exactly, what other departments are affected by you efficiently completing the tasks, who else is involved in your tasks, how your performance will be evaluated, and so on.
- You may prefer to learn your new job by shadowing someone who is familiar with the job and who can serve as a mentor. This will allow you to explore the job with your hands, and it will reveal the standard process for doing things (i.e., sensing).
On the other hand, you may prefer to be left alone after having a tutorial of your new job task. This will allow you to process all the information in your mind’s eye, and it will provide you with the opportunity to see what new skills you will develop and possibly alternative ways of completing the task (i.e., intuition).
Describe how you would prefer to process the information in this imaginary scenario. On the scale, are you close to the sensing side or the intuition side? What is another context where you can see yourself processing information as one of these two types?
