CAE #7 Objective: To identify, explain, and apply the characteristics of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (Gottman’s predictors of divorce) to the fictional couple, Barbara and Oliver Rose (in the film, “War of the Roses”). For CAE #7, do the following: Watch the movie, “War of the Roses,” paying close attention to the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (predictors of divorce) enacted in Barbara and Oliver Rose’s relationship. Identify and explain, in order, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (Gottman’s predictors of divorce) in the conflict chapter. For each predictor/Horsemen, provide at least one illustrative example from the relationship of Barbara and Oliver Rose, as depicted in the film “War of the Roses.” Using the information from the chapter (and class) make recommendations for how the Rose’s could have improved their conflict communication.
