Compare and contrast how Thomas Hobbes and John Locke view the natural state of humans and how they interact with each other.  Given this context, how do you think their views about human nature impacted their ideas about proper government and in who governing power resides?  Lastly, imagine you are prospering merchant who has made a sizable fortune in importing and exporting goods but you do not come from noble birth.  Would you prescribe to governing theories of Hobbes or Locke?  Explain your response.
