Assignment Help-Can you think of some personal examples in your day-to-day life where there is disagreement between these three slices of life?
formal definition of psychology tells us that psychology is the scientific study of human behavior and mental processes. That is still a pretty dry definition. Here’s a more personal way to think about it.
Our lives consist of behaviors and mental processes dealing with how we think, feel, and act in every circumstance that we experience. It would be nice if those three things (thinking, feeling, and acting) were always in agreement. For example, if you have a horrible boss, you may mumble mean things under your breath as you walk into the office every morning about how miserable that boss is. You may even feel your blood pressure rising because you know that you have to confront the boss about your workload first thing that morning. However, when you run into him/her the very next minute, you smile politely, and give a warm, “Good morning, how are you, everything’s fine” greeting as you walk to your office. In that case, how we think, feel, and act are clearly not all the same (or in concert). And that usually gets us mad at ourselves, not saying what we really felt, like “I work for peanuts and you never even say “thank you” to me!
